Captured on video, 24-year-old man stabbed to death in Delhi’s Seemapuri murder case; 2 held

A 24-year-old man was stabbed to death after three people were thrashed in north-east Delhi’s Seemapuri. The police gave this information on Thursday. He said that two accused have been arrested. Police said the victim was allegedly in an affair with the married sister of one of the accused, adding that the woman’s brother was not happy with it and had planned to kill her.

A video clip of the incident shows one of the accused repeatedly hitting the victim with a metal chair while another stabs him. When a woman tries to save the victim, the third accused stops her. At around 5 pm on Wednesday evening, a PCR call came that a man was stabbed by three people in Old Seemapuri.

Police reached the spot to find out that the victim had already been shifted to Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, where he was declared “brought dead”. A senior police officer said that the deceased has been identified as Shahrukh, a resident of Old Seemapuri.

A case under sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and provisions of the Arms Act was registered at Seemapuri police station, the official said. The accused have been identified as Zubair, Zafar and Aditya, residents of Seemapuri. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) R Sathiyasundaram said teams were formed, several raids were conducted and Aditya (18) and Zubair (30) were arrested.

Police said Shahrukh was involved in over 40 cases, mostly of pickpocketing at metro stations in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. He was released on bail a few days ago from Dasna Jail in Uttar Pradesh. The accused told the police that there was an altercation between Sharukh and them on Wednesday. Later, Zubair along with his friends Zafar and Aditya, plan to kill Sharukh, police say that Zubair is a truck mechanic by profession.

On Wednesday evening, they attacked Sharukh with a knife. Police said efforts are on to arrest Zafar.
