During his speech, Rahul Gandhi, said, “All our great men have spoken about non-violence and eliminating fear.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday raised serious objections to Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi’s description of Hindus in the Lok Sabha, which caused a huge uproar in Parliament.

His remarks came during a discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address to a joint sitting of Parliament. Delivering a speech in the Lok Sabha, the Leader of the Opposition launched a sharp attack on the ruling BJP, asserting that Hinduism is not about spreading fear, hatred, and falsehoods.

PM Modi swiftly objected to the Congress leader’s comments on the Hindus, saying, “Calling the entire Hindu community violent is a very serious matter.” Shortly after, the Prime Minister targeted Rahul, stating, “Democracy and the Constitution have taught me that I need to take the Leader of the Opposition seriously.”

Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah sought Gandhi’s apology to the House and the country for hurting the feelings of crores of people who take pride in identifying themselves as Hindus. Shah also criticised Rahul, saying crores of people take pride in being Hindus. “By saying that Hindus commit violence, lie and spread hatred, Rahul Gandhi has insulted crores of Hindus. He should apologise for this,” the home minister said amid a ruckus in the Parliament.
