Candidature for by-election: A lot of problems in front of BJP, Congress Mysuru News – Times of India

Haveri: As the process of filing nominations for the by-elections to Sindgi and Hangal seats begins, the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress Still confused about their respective candidates. Reason: There are so many to choose from.
In Hangal, the BJP has 19 candidates, including revatiHaveri Mp. wife of Shivakumar Udasi. Rawati’s father-in-law CM Udasi had held the seat six times before her death in June and is seeking a ticket because of her family lineage. But local RSS leaders have reportedly suggested the leadership to choose a loyal party worker. If the party follows the advice of the RSS, a new face will emerge.
Other ticket candidates include: BJP District President Siddaraj Kalkoti, former MLA Shivaraj Sajjanar, former MP Manjunath Kunnur, Krishna Ilager, Bhojaraj Karudi.
However, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai is reportedly in favor of gloom as he does not want to experiment with new faces. “Hangal comes under his home district and a defeat here will certainly raise questions on his leadership ability. So he is supporting the Udasi family as he feels it is a safe bet,” said a source.
The candidates for both the seats of the BJP core committee to be held on Sunday are expected to be final. The meeting will be presided over by BJP’s national general secretary in-charge of Karnataka, Arun Singh.
In life too, the party is facing a lot of trouble with eight candidates, including former MLA Ramesh Bhushanur, lobbying for the ticket. Sources said the party may choose a new face.
Congress is struggling to strike a deal between strong contender MLC Srinivas Mane and former minister Monohar Tehsildar. However, KPCC President DK Shivakumar and Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah In less than a week he held three meetings with leaders from Haveri district, a consensus still elusive.
Now it seems that the ticket fight has turned into a fight between Mane Vs Locals. Mane hails from neighboring Dharwad district. However, the party may decide in favor of Mane as he lost the 2018 election to CM Udasi by just 5,000 votes, a Congress functionary said.
In life, the party has already finalized the name of Ashok Managuli, son of former minister Managuli, whose death led to a by-election in the region. Managuli left the JD(S) and joined the Congress three months ago.
