Candice Warner takes a dig at her husband’s critics after David named Player of the Tournament

At the start of the tournament, almost no one took Australia as one of the contenders for t20 world cup Topic. They have been running at a loss since the beginning of this year. They had earlier lost the five-match T20I series 3-2 to New Zealand in March. Then he was blown away by West Indies and Bangladesh later this year. Australia lost both those series 1-4.

Like Australia, David Warner was also in trouble. she had a nightmare IPL Season where he scored only 195 runs in eight matches. The Australian opener also dropped him from the captaincy of the IPL franchise, then was dropped from the playing XI due to his poor performance.

However, both David Warner and Australia turned around when it mattered most and scripted one of the best redemption stories. Australia overcame all odds, defeating Pakistan in the semi-finals to win their maiden T20 World Cup title and David Warner won the Player of the Tournament title with 289 runs.

After Australia and David Warner’s win, David Warner’s wife Candice Warner took a dig at her husband’s critics in a short tweet. “Out of form, too old and slow! Congratulations @davidwarner31,” tweeted Candice.

Warner was one of the star performers for Australia along with Adam Zampa and Mitchell Marsh. Warner scored 289 runs in seven matches at an average of 48.16 and a strike rate of 146.70. His highest score of the tournament is 89* against West Indies in a Super 12 stage match. Warner scored 53 runs in the final and Australia chased down the target of 173 runs in 18.5 overs.

“I always felt great. I didn’t get much time in between two practice matches, but for me, it was about going back to basics,” Warner said at the presentation ceremony.

“Going to tough, synthetic wickets, and trying to hit some balls. It certainly is with 2015,” Warner said.

“It is definitely sad to be part of the (losing) World Cup against England in 2019. These people are a great bunch. Great support staff, great team, and we had great support back home. We just wanted to have a great spectacle for everyone at home. There was a bit of panic with a good score on the board but it was great to see the guys doing well,” said the southpaw after Australia’s maiden T20 World Cup win.
