Cancer-expensive Chinese medicines will not be available for free in the hospital, doctors criticized

Expensive medicines for deadly diseases like cancer and diabetes will no longer be available in government hospitals. Instead, the state government will provide relatively cheaper medicines. Many doctors’ organizations have reacted strongly to the announcement of this decision. Their question is whether fairs are more important to the government than human health? In return, Trinamool MP Shantanu Sen demanded that a decision be taken to curb the waste.

Cancer drugs cisplatin, etoposide, cyclophosphamide, enoxaparin, hydroxyurea and government hospitals will not be available free of cost, a recent statement from the state health department said. Diabetes medicines are not available. Due to which patients are likely to suffer. It is almost impossible to buy this medicine especially for economically backward patients.

The government claims that instead of this, cheap medicines will be given to the patients. which have the same effectiveness. But a large part of the doctors are not ready to accept this theory of the government. Medical association leader Manas Gumta said, “35,000 clubs in the state will get the grant every year. Government will give grant for Durga Puja. On the other hand, cancer patients will not get medicine from the hospital. What could be a greater misfortune than this? Only free medicines are available in the hospital, why hang hoardings?

Trinamool leader Dr Shantanu Sen, however, claimed that the decision would not affect the patients. Some doctors have a habit of prescribing expensive medicines. Some of them attended the patients in private rooms and arranged free medicine from the government hospital. This decision has been taken to stop this.

The state government gets Rs 600 crore every year from the National Health Mission of the Centre. This money should be used to buy medicines and conduct various tests on the patient. According to estimates, Rs 60 crore is spent on buying expensive medicines. Instead the government will save Rs 12 crore a year by giving less expensive medicines.
