Two major decisions were taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today i.e. on Wednesday. Giving information about the decisions of the cabinet after the meeting, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that approval has been given to continue the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana till 2024. Apart from this, approval has also been given to link Ken-Betwa project in the meeting.

Target to provide 2.95 crore pucca houses under housing scheme
Union Minister Thakur informed that the government has set a target of providing 2.95 crore pucca houses by 2024 under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana. Out of this, 1.65 crore pucca houses have been given by November 2021. They have been released money to build houses.

how much has been spent so far
Anurag Thakur said that till March 2021, Rs 1.97 lakh crore has been spent under this scheme. Out of this, the central government has spent Rs 1.44 lakh crore. The duration of PM Awas Yojana has been extended by the Modi cabinet and for this more than Rs 2,17,257 crore has been approved.

Let us tell you that the objective of Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana is to provide housing to the homeless people. Under this scheme, financial assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh is provided to the below poverty line families for construction of pucca houses.

Ken-Betwa project will be linked
The Modi government has approved the Ken-Betwa link project. Ken-Betwa rivers will be linked at a cost of Rs 44,605 ​​crore. This will be a national project. In this, the total contribution of the central government will be 90%. This project of connecting Ken-Betwa river will be completed in the next 8 years. The central government will contribute Rs 39317 crore in this project.
