‘Builders violating rules’: Buyers seek MLA’s help Gurgaon News – Times of India

GURUGRAM: A group of residents and home buyers of several affordable housing projects in the city under the banner of Federation of Affordable Buyers Association (FABA) met Badshapur MLA Rakesh Daulatabad on Sunday, seeking his intervention over alleged violation of provision of affordable housing. Of. Policy 2013.
Highlighting their plight, home buyers complained that there are widespread delays in completion of affordable housing projects with poor monitoring and enforcement by the department concerned. He further claimed that the developers are arbitrarily demanding additional amount at the time of possession of their flats and putting additional burden on them.
Deepak Kumar, president of FABA and a resident of Pyramid Urban Homes, said, “No compensation was paid for the delay in possession by the developers to the affected buyers. The payment plan prescribed in the policy for affordable housing projects is only time-linked and not based on construction speed, giving an unfair advantage of collecting the amount and diverting it to other uses.
In addition, developers are collecting maintenance charges as user charges of the operating cost, he alleged.
Manoj Yadav, a resident of AVL 36 said, “Developers are doing their own interpretation and finding loopholes in the policy to exploit home buyers. We have requested the MLA to intervene in this matter as it is not only affecting us but also harmful to the affordable housing sectors in the absence of clarity in the policy.”
Meanwhile, Daulatabad has assured residents and home buyers that it will take up the matter with the concerned department and authorities to resolve their grievances.
