The BTS Boys recently upset the whole world when they announced that the group was going on hiatus as a band. Recently, Lee Jae-yeon, president of the Korean Singers Association, also issued a statement urging the K-pop sensation to reconsider his hiatus decision for the future of South Korea’s music industry.
“I am overcome by my fear and anxiety that the ‘BTS Halli Wave’, a movement that has by far the world’s greatest cultural soft power, will soon disappear. In the years leading up to the movement’s birth, it believed Used to be that finding ‘Next Beatles’ would be a very difficult feat, and now, we’ve reached a point where it’s hard to expect ‘Next BTS’ to emerge any time soon. Thus, There is great concern that Halli will stop beating,” the statement read.
The statement further explained how South Korea’s tourism would suffer if BTS went on a break. “If BTS is gone, Hallie and the missionaries of Korean culture, ARMY, are also gone. South Korea’s tourism industry will suffer, and it will be difficult for South Korea to anticipate a future as a center of culture in Asia, It added.
However, this has left BTS ARMYs around the world disappointed and furious. Hashtags including ‘It’s OK to Rest’ and ‘Leave BTS Alone’ are trending on social media, with fans urging everyone to let group members decide what’s best for them. “You have already done so much for us! Take as much time as you need and enjoy it, we are always waiting for you #BTSItsOkayToRest,” read a tweet. Another social media user wrote, “The beginning From now until now, and forever, ARMY will always be there for you, supporting you in everything you do.”
