Elections are due this year in the major states of Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Telangana, apart from the North-Eastern states.

BSP chief Mayawati on Sunday ruled out any alliance with any party for the assembly elections in various states and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Elections are due this year in the major states of Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Telangana, apart from the North-Eastern states.

Talking to reporters here on her 67th birthday, the former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh said, “I would like to make it clear that the BSP will not fight with any party in the assembly elections in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan and in the Lok Sabha elections to be held next year.” Will not form an alliance and will contest elections on its own.

Mayawati said it became necessary for her to make this announcement as the Congress and some other parties are allegedly trying to create an impression that they are forging an alliance with the BSP.

“Their votes (allies) have not been transferred to us in the one or two state-level electoral alliances in Uttar Pradesh and other states except Punjab, which has caused loss to the BSP,” he said.

Therefore, our party has decided to contest the assembly elections and the Lok Sabha elections on its own, he said.
