BSNL will discontinue its prepaid broadband service: Report – Times of India

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is reportedly shutting down its prepaid broadband service. according to a report from Kerala TelecomThe service will be suspended in all telecom circles of the country. in present, BSNL Provides prepaid broadband services only in Digital Subscriber Line (DSL). As per the report, BSNL has directed all telecom circles to migrate all existing prepaid DSL broadband customers to postpaid DSL broadband.
BSNL prepaid broadband service provides unlimited high speed broadband internet access to the customers. Other benefits of prepaid broadband include mobility, control over internet charges, DSL broadband connection sharing and much more. The prepaid broadband plans of the telco start at Rs 200 and go up to Rs 3,000.
Why is BSNL discontinuing its prepaid broadband service?
According to the report of Kerala Telecom, the subscriber base in the prepaid broadband segment is very small. This is the reason why BSNL has decided to discontinue this service and migrate the existing prepaid broadband customers to postpaid services.
What happens to the prepaid account balance?
The existing prepaid account balance of existing customers will be credited to their postpaid account. During the transfer from Prepaid Broadband Service to Postpaid Broadband Service, customers will have the option to choose BSNL Bharat Fiber (FTTH) or Bharat Airfiber (BAF) connections have limits in maximum download and upload speeds, as do DSL broadband connections.
BSNL announces special offer to migrate landline connections to Bharat Fiber (FTTH)
The report states that BSNL has introduced a special discount scheme for existing landline customers to ensure that BSNL FTTH. As part of the plan, landline customers can avail a maximum discount of Rs 600 while migrating to Bharat Fiber.
In addition, they will be able to retain their existing landline number while upgrading their old BSNL telephone connection to Bharat Fiber. In order to maintain a landline number on BSNL FTTH, one has to ask for the same landline number while submitting the application form.
