BS Yediyurappa resigns: Karnataka CM hints at exit from state government after 2 years of celebration

Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has hinted at the possibility of finally resigning from the top post, dismissing speculations and reports.

This happened after he appealed to the party workers and supporters not to protest or issue statements despite any political developments.

“JP Nadda, PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have a lot of respect and love for me. After someone crosses 75, there will be no post for them. For me, they have appreciated my work and they Let me work till the age of 78- 79 years,” Yediyurappa said.

He said, “My intention is to strengthen the BJP in the state and bring the party back to the government. There is a program to complete two years after 26th, after that whatever Nadda ji says, I will follow it.”

The Karnataka chief minister also emphasized that it is his duty to bring the BJP back to power, saying: “I request all party workers that no one practices indiscipline”.

“The protest that took place is not right and everyone should cooperate. All the saints have blessed me. I will never forget it. Whatever the party decides, I will do. All party workers and seers will cooperate,” he said.

Earlier, sources told ABP News that CM BS Yediyurappa is likely to resign citing age and health-related reasons. He said he would continue to deny the reports till the development is finalized and the party leadership will decide when to officially announce the resignation.

CM Yediyurappa recently gave impetus to the speculation after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The official reason for the meeting was said to be to discuss “pending development projects” related to the state. After meeting PM Narendra Modi, he met BJP President JP Nadda.

Sources said a decision on who would be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka would be taken soon. Prominent candidates being considered include Prahlad Joshi, BL Santosh, Laxman Savadi and Murugesh Nirani.
