After a long wait, a US court has finally ruled in favor of Britney Spears. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penney has suspended Britney’s father, Jamie Spears, from the post of guardianship that controlled the pop singer’s life and property for 13 years.
According to Variety, Penney hired John Zabel, an accountant, to take over temporary control of the property until the next move was determined.
The judge overruled the decision, saying, “I believe the suspension is in the best interest of conservatives. The current situation is unstable.”
For the unversed, Britney’s stereotyping began in 2008 after the singer’s public outcry caused several mental breakdowns. Her father Jamie Spears served as the custodian of her estate and person for over a decade, but, in 2019, she temporarily stepped down as her person’s manager due to her own health issues.
Jodi Montgomery has temporarily replaced him for the past two years. And earlier this year, Brittany and her attorney petitioned official court to request the removal of Jamie as the custodian of the songstress’s assets.
Ahead of Wednesday’s hearing, Britney fans reportedly held a rally outside the courtroom, where they sang her classic songs. The next hearing of the case has been fixed for November 12.
