The latest North and South film industry clash at the box office is between The Kashmir Files and Radhe Shyam, both of which were released on March 11. The first day box office report of the Prabhas and Pooja Hegde-starrer has been dubbed. ‘Disappointing’ outside southern markets. It collected Rs 4.50 crore in Hindi. These figures are quite low considering the scale at which Radhey Shyam has been cast and how it was ranked as a pan-India film before its release.

According to Box Office India, even though Radhe Shyam debuted to good response in Telugu, which is its primary market, outside the state, it has not, in fact, made a dent in the collections. The biggest contribution outside was from Maharashtra where stars from the south have a following. On the other hand, Anupam Kher And Mithun Chakraborty-starrer The Kashmir Files did a decent business of Rs 3.25 crore and managed to stand against ‘Prabhas Toofan’ at the box office.

When compared to Prabhas’s previous release Saaho’s first day in Hindi which was around Rs 25 crore, Radhe Shyam’s collection is disappointing. The BOI report claims that going forward, the chances of Radhe Shyam earning well outside his home region are slim. Also, the film’s opening day collection in Telugu is in the range of Rs 30 crore, which is similar to that of Bheemala Nayak, Vakil Saab and Pushpa: The Rise.

Apart from K files, Alia BhattGangubai Kathiawadi, which is looking to end its second week collection with a total of Rs 101.47 crore after its release on February 25, still poses a challenge for Radhe Shyam. BOI says that Radhey Shyam’s Hindi collection may prove to be ‘disappointing’ till the opening day and is unlikely to see a huge jump on Saturday.

Meanwhile, The Kashmir Files may be a hit. It was released in a limited number of screens (700 as per BOI) and is targeting multiplex audiences. A good collection on Saturday and an up trend will result in a good collection in the first weekend. The film has seen a better opening at Rs 3.25 crores Raj Kumar Rao And Bhumi Pednekar Ki Badhaai Do, which earned Rs 1.39 crore on its first day after its release on February 11.
