CoWIN Chief Dr. RS Sharma said on Monday that this group will not need to re-register on the app for the prevention dose. They will be able to schedule their appointment for the third dose (prescription dose) after following some necessary steps from their old CoWIN account itself.

Only the names and data of the elderly, healthcare and frontline workers already on the CoWIN app will suffice for this. On the same data, this age group has taken both the doses of the vaccine. Slot booking can also be done on Arogya Setu App and UMANG App. Apart from this, it can also be booked at the centers. In this group, about 14 crore people are to be vaccinated.

no certificate needed
Precaution dosage is to be applied only to those people above 60 years of age who are suffering from comorbidities (more than one disease). The government has released a list of 22 diseases that come under comorbidity. The Health Ministry has clarified that all persons aged 60 years and above with comorbidities will not be required to produce/produce any certificate from the doctor for taking the precaution dosage. However, such people have been asked to consult a doctor before taking the precaution dosage.

22 diseases are included in the comorbidities list
According to Dr. RS Sharma, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National Health Authority (NHA) and Chief of CoWIN platform, the details of comorbidities certificate have already been released by the government during the vaccination campaign. These details were released during the initiation of vaccination for the elderly as well as people aged 45 to 60+ suffering from serious diseases.

At the same time, the formula will also be considered applicable on the comorbidity certificate at this time. He said that 22 diseases are included in the comorbidities list of the government.

On the night of 25 December, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced to give precaution doses of the vaccine from January 10 to such elderly people of 60+ age who come under the purview of comorbidities. Along with this, from January 10, PM Modi had announced to give pre-caution dose to the frontline workers and also to give corona vaccine to children between the age of 15 to 18 years from January 3.
