Bommai: Karnataka will soon have anti-conversion law: CM | India News – Times of India

BENGALURU: Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj bommai Said on Friday that an anti-conversion law would soon be made in the state.
“The state government is studying the relevant laws made by other states and an anti-conversion law will be framed soon,” Bommai said. He was responding to a question about a meeting with a group of saints on Friday to demand a ban on religious conversion.
According to Mohana Gowda, convener of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, under whose aegis the event was organized, over 50 saints from various Hindu religious orders met Bommai and stressed on the need for a law banning conversion.
The CM categorically stated that the Constitution does not allow forced conversions including inducement. Later Gowda said in a statement that Sri Ram is the Sena chief. Pramod Muthalik, Santhosh Guruji, siddalinga swami And Pranavananda Swami Representatives were involved. Mutalik was quoted as saying that schools and hospitals are being used for religious conversion. He said that many illegal churches are also being built in the state. The representatives demanded that the converts should be deprived of special benefits for the Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes.
