Bollywood remembers veteran musician RD Burman on his birth anniversary

Mumbai: Bollywood celebrities – actors, musicians and filmmakers – on Sunday took to social media to remember veteran composer Rahul Dev Burman aka RD Burman on his birth anniversary.

Taking to Twitter, playback legend Lata Mangeshkar wrote in Hindi, “RD Burman ko kaun nahi jaanta. Wo janam se rajputra tha aur sangeet ka wo raja tha. Aaj uski jayanti hai. Main uski yaad ko aur uske sangeet ko vinamra abhivadan karti hun. (Who does not know RD Burman. He was a prince by birth and the king of music. Today is his birth anniversary. I pay my humble tribute to his memories and music.)”

Poet-lyricist-screenwriter Javed Akhtar wrote, “Today is June 27th, the birth anniversary of RD Burman. Time is always kinder to truly great people, it keeps on raising more and more the image of a genius. No wonder Not that his popularity among Gene the next and young musicians is increasing day by day.”

Singer Adnan Sami shared, “Remembering one of my all-time favorite ‘Pancham Da’ on his birth anniversary! His evergreen music has an incredible range of genres. I am forever indebted to him for the love and encouragement he has given me. Diya. Met him in childhood. May his soul rest in peace! #RDBurman.”

Singer Shilpa Rao tweeted, “Happy birthday Pancham da. May we keep on learning from you to feed your child like approach to life. Here’s the talent.”

Director Madhur Bhandarkar wrote, “#NeedleOnTheRecord Remembering the great #RDBurman #Panchamada on his 82nd birth anniversary. Listening to one of his most underrated hidden gems song from the movie ROMANCE, 1983. #HappyBirthdayRDBurman.”

Director Sujoy Ghosh wrote, “Happy birthday RD Burman. Your music gives happiness. Thank you for all the happiness.”

The Indian Film and TV Directors Association wrote on their official Twitter account, “@DirectorsIFTDA remembers the great music director RD Burman on his birth anniversary. Nicknamed Pancham Da, he is regarded as one of the foremost musical forces that Indian cinema has created. Kabhi Dekha Hai. From the 1960s to the 1990s, he composed music for 331 films.”

Television actor Gaurav Chopra posted, “Happy birthday #RDBurman!! #PanchMada. No one like you…my all time favorite! And when Panchamada and #KishoreKumar came together….!!! Yours Which is your favorite RD Burman song?”

Producer Ashok Pandit tweeted, “Remembering and tribute to the all-time music maestro #RDBurman (#Panchamada) on his 82nd birth anniversary. Your presence is always felt with the immortal sangeet tunes you create.”
