The actor we are talking about is Nazir Hussain. He made his mark in the film industry from 1948 to 1996 and was considered one of the legendary actors. Nazir Hussain, who mostly played supporting roles, left a lasting impression with every character he portrayed. He was born on May 15, 1922, in the village of Usia in Uttar Pradesh. On his father’s recommendation, he got a job in the railway but later joined the British Army.

Nazir Hussain’s Death Sentence

According to media reports, Nazir was posted in Singapore and Malaysia during World War II. As the situation worsened, he was captured during the war and sent to a prison in Malaysia. However, after a few days, he was released and sent back to India. There, he joined the Indian National Army. Following in the footsteps of Subhas Chandra Bose, he raised his voice against the British. For this offense, he was captured and sentenced to death. When Nazir did not return home for a long time, his family believed he had become a martyr.

How His Release Happened

Once, while Nazir was being transported by the British from Howrah to Delhi by train, he secretly threw a letter at Dildarnagar Junction, which eventually reached his family. At that time, the villagers tried to free him from the British but were unsuccessful. After India gained independence, he was released.

Nazir Hussain’s Films

Nazir Hussain’s entry into the world of acting is credited to Bimal Roy. He starred in several remarkable films such as ‘Parineeta,’ ‘Jeevan Jyoti,’ ‘Musafir,’ ‘Anuradha,’ ‘Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam,’ ‘Naya Daur,’ ‘Kati Patang,’ and ‘Kashmir Ki Kali.’

In 1960, he met the former President of India, Rajendra Prasad, who encouraged him to work in Bhojpuri films. In 1963, he acted in his first Bhojpuri film, ‘Ganga Maiya Tohe Piyari Chadhaibo,’ which marked the beginning of the Bhojpuri film era.
