Bob Dylan sued for alleged sexual misconduct with a minor in 1965

Washington DCAmerican singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, known for songs like “Blowin’ in the Wind” and “The Times They’re A-Changin'” has been sued by a woman in a New York court. A Reuters report said the victim alleged that a 1965 American folk tale sexually abused her when she was a minor.

The woman, who identified in her complaint as Jesse, accused Bob of ‘preparing her for sex and sexually abusing her’ in her New York apartment between April and May 1965. In her civil suit filed in the New York Supreme Court, she stated that the singer gave her alcohol and drugs, thereby establishing an ’emotional connection’ that allowed Bob to abuse her over a period of six weeks.

The lawsuit alleges that Bob Dylan was in his mid-20s when he sexually assaulted a minor girl in 1965. The victim claimed that the threats of physical violence left her “emotionally wounded and psychologically damaged to this day,” the news agency report said.

Another report from Variety states that the woman, who sued under New York’s Child Victims Act, has sued the singer for false imprisonment, assault and battery. In her trial, the victim is seeking ‘unspecified damages’.

Bob Dylan’s spokesperson responds to sexual abuse allegations

The singer’s spokesperson denied the serious allegations, calling them “liar”. “The 56-year-old claim is untrue and will be vigorously defended,” the spokesman was quoted as saying by Reuters.
