Board exam pattern changed, new rules for admission: PM tells students how to manage disruptions

For the current batch of students in class 10 and 12, not only have most part of their academic year been conducted in online mode, but they have also dealt with a lot of changes. This year, board exams have been conducted twice for a large number of boards including the central boards of CBSE and CISCE. The exam pattern of both the board exams was different. Moreover, the government has announced that the admission will not be conducted through class 12 board exam scores but on the basis of a new entrance test – CUET. It will be mandatory for all central universities and other colleges, deemed universities can also use this score.

To deal with these disruptions, a Class 12 student asked PM Modi about his views on a lot of changes in an academic year for students. A student asks PM Modi during Annual Charcha – Pariksha Pe Charcha or Pariksha Pe Charcha, “With many changes including change in board exam pattern for students this year and drastic changes in exams apart from CUET. Now what should we do? Should? How should we manage?”

For this, PM Modi asked the students to change their attitude and preparation strategies. He asked the students not to prepare for the exam but to prepare by understanding the topics which can help them in any exam, answer any question in any format.

During the interaction, Modi said, “The idea is not to study for any particular exam. If you are studying for an exam, you are looking for strategies to solve your current question or crack the said exam. But if you have learned all the topics of the syllabus, then you will be proficient enough to answer the questions in any exam pattern or format. You will be the master of your subjects. This will help you crack all kinds of exams – be it board or competitive exams.”

The Prime Minister took the example of a sportsperson to explain his point. He said that a player is ready to learn a few times in his game. If a player is trained, whether you put him at the district or national level, he will do well.

He also asked the students not to take the exam as the only gateway and focus only on their studies. He also asked the students to take the competitive exam regardless of the result and if the result is not favorable, then look for the most suitable alternatives for themselves. “If it doesn’t go well, it’s not for you, look for an alternative. If there is too much competition for your generation then there are too many options, options too,” the PM said.
