The civic body’s guideline said, “The puja shall be conducted in indoor-like conditions without any public participation, only for the observance of rituals of grandeur.” It further states that the mandapas will have to be covered on three sides and one side will have to be opened for entry only for the rituals of the priests. The BMC said that the fourth part should also be covered properly so that the public cannot see the idols.
Not more than seven people including the priest/organizers/karta/support staff will be allowed in the puja mandap at any time. people who will be there Mandap COVID proper behavior needs to be followed. Fully vaccinated people will be allowed to observe the puja.
The civic body has clearly mentioned in the guidelines that the organizers cannot take out the immersion procession this time. BMC has created artificial ponds where idols will be immersed. The guideline states that a maximum of 10 people should be involved in the immersion process as this time the size and weight of the idol has been limited.
Fully vaccinated persons can take part in the immersion process and should follow the appropriate COVID practices while performing rituals for immersion. No religious procession or music or entertainment program of any kind shall be permitted by any public/group/club/puja committee during the Puja period.
“The Puja Committee should inform its members to retain all permission/individual COVID vaccination certificates for inspection by enforcement agencies,” the BMC guidelines said.
