Blast on Navy Ship: Blast on Indian Navy’s warship INS Ranveer in Mumbai; 3 Navy jawans martyred, 11 injured

A blast took place in the internal compartment of the warship INS Ranvir at the Indian Navy Dockyard in Mumbai on Tuesday. Three Indian Navy personnel have died in the blast, while 11 soldiers have also been injured. The injured have been admitted to the local Naval Hospital. A fire broke out in the compartment after the blast, which was brought under control shortly after. The reason for the blast is not yet clear.

INS Ranvir in the Eastern Naval Command was on operational deployment in the coastal area since November 2021 and was to return to the base port shortly after, when the explosion took place. According to the information, there was not much damage to the ship in this blast. Rescue work was started soon after this incident. Shortly after, the crew members stationed on the ship brought the fire under control, which did not cause much damage to the ship.

Order of ‘Board of Inquiry’

According to Indian Navy officials, INS Ranvir was on cross coast operational deployment from Eastern Naval Command and was soon to return to the base port. The cause of the blast could not be ascertained. A Board of Inquiry has been ordered to be deployed for its investigation.
