Despite high alert in Punjab, the blast in Ludhiana court on Thursday raised many questions on the functioning of Punjab Police. After the sacrilege in Amritsar’s Golden Temple last week, the Congress government has issued an alert across the state. Police have put up nakas at various places across the state. Despite this, on Thursday, someone reached inside the Ludhiana court with an explosive and the police kept sitting with a metal detector.

The court complex in Ludhiana where the blast took place on Thursday is a 7-storey building. In addition to the court room, judge’s rest room, record room, prisoner cell of prisoners to be brought to production, more than 1500 lawyers’ chambers have been built here. Police are present in the court premises at all times. Thousands of people come and go here daily.

There are 12 doors to enter the court complex. Of these, only 2 gates have metal detectors. According to lawyers practicing in the Ludhiana court, both these metal detectors were also ‘dead’. Police personnel were stationed at the gates of the court complex to say, but they did not investigate anyone, etc. and used to sit on one side.

When the blast took place on Thursday, the number of people on the floor was less compared to other days. In fact, the strike is going on in Punjab by leaving the pen of the government employees. Because of this the court staff were not on duty.

DC, commissioner and minister’s house around court premises

A mini-secretariat has been built next to the court complex, where apart from DC, all other offices have been built. Very close to it is the headquarters of the Ludhiana Police Commissionerate, where police commissioner Gurpreet Bhullar along with all the top officers sit. Model Town, which is within 400 meters of the court complex, houses the cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu.

Minister said- Powerful tha blast
Cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, who hails from Ludhiana, said that the blast in the court premises was very powerful. Its echo was heard for a long time. The way a man’s body was ripped apart in this blast, it seems that he was a suicide bomber. However, the police is investigating all the aspects and only after the completion of the investigation, anything can be said for sure.
