Blanket in winter is not just a commodity, but it is a gift of euphoria… or rather life. The organizers defined the blanket distribution ceremony organized in the last phase of the 22nd Kharagpur Book Fair in this way. This initiative of the corporate organization and the organizers also added an integral aspect of social concern with the book fair.
For the first time in the book fair, this program of blanket distribution was done on the initiative of the local commercial organization “Sai Sulfonate Pvt Ltd”. Following the Corona rules, blankets were given to the needy on Saturday at the ‘Gautam Choubey Manch’ built in the ongoing book fair complex in the Town Hall. On this occasion, the secretary of the fair organizing committee, Devashish Chaudhary, eminent litterateur Sunil Majhi, social worker B. On behalf of Harish Kumar, Sukhmay Pradhan and Sai Sulfonate, Basudev Das, Prashant De, Janamjeya Panda, Jaideep Kole and Surjit Dutta were present.
In his address, Vasudev Das said that ‘under social concern, we have proposed to distribute blankets to the book fair committee … are grateful to the committee for which they accepted our proposal.
Debashish Chaudhary, secretary of the Boi Mela Committee, said that ‘Even in this Corona period, the administration has given us permission to hold the fair because we are following all the rules. Blankets will be given on the coupon for three consecutive days. There is no need to show haste to the recipients. Everyone will get blankets.
