Ahead of the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Bharatiya Kisan Union Saharanpur division president Raju Ahlawat on Sunday resigned and later joined the BJP. He joined the saffron party in the presence of state BJP president Swatantra Dev Singh in Lucknow.
