bks: Modi’s decision to repeal agricultural laws ‘seems right’, says RSS-affiliated farmers’ organisation. India News – Times of India

New Delhi: RSS-affiliated Bharatiya Kisan Sangh ,bks) on Friday the Prime Minister said Narendra ModiThe decision to repeal the three agricultural laws “appears to be correct” to avoid “unnecessary disputes and conflicts”.
However, it criticized farmer leaders, saying their “arrogant attitude” of continuing their protests was not beneficial to small farmers.
NS Samyukt Kisan MorchaAn umbrella body of agricultural associations leading the movement against the three agriculture laws has welcomed the prime minister’s decision but said they will wait for the announcement to take effect through proper parliamentary procedures.
Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait The opposition to the ongoing anti-agriculture laws would be withdrawn only after the Parliament repeals three controversial laws and legal guarantees on the minimum support price for crops, he said.
A statement issued by BKS general secretary Badri Narayan Choudhary said, “The decision of the Prime Minister to abrogate all these three farmer acts appears to be a right decision to avoid undue disputes and conflicts.”
Such arrogant attitude of these so called farmer leaders is not beneficial in the long run for the small farmers of our country which comprises about 90 per cent farming community.
The BKS said farmers are exploited in the markets and to address the issue, there is a need to create a system that guarantees and ensures “remunerative prices” for farmers’ agricultural produce.
“A correct version of these Acts (three agricultural laws), as suggested by BKS, would have been more beneficial to the largest number of farmers in our country,” the organization said.
The BKS noted that Modi during his announcement stressed on making the minimum support price “more effective” and a committee would be set up for the same.
The Indian Farmers’ Union welcomes this decision with the suggestion to include representation of non-political farmers’ organizations in this committee. PTI PK NSD
