BJP’s Tejasvi Surya Detained During Protest Against Kejriwal’s The Kashmir Files Comment

new Delhi: BJP Yuva Morcha national president and Bengaluru MP Tejashwi Surya was detained by the Delhi Police on Wednesday for protesting outside the residence of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

Surya, along with BJP youth wing workers, was protesting Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s remarks on ‘The Kashmir Files’ in the Delhi Assembly last week.

Amidst the demand to make the film tax free in Delhi, Kejriwal had said that the film’s director Vivek Agnihotri should post the film on YouTube.

However, the police stopped the protest march after 50 meters by putting up barricades.

The demonstration turned violent when the protesters broke the barricading put up by the police and moved on. As a result, the police had to use water cannons on the protesters.

After using water cannon, the protesters sat on the road while Surya was taken into custody.

The Kashmir Files is a fiction film based on the sufferings of the Kashmiri Pandit community after their exodus from Kashmir in the early 1990s.

According to Delhi Police, around 40-50 BJP party workers have also been detained. If there is any communication from CM residence then police will take legal action in the matter.

Meanwhile, the official Twitter handle of the Aam Aadmi Party said that the security cameras and barriers outside the CM residence were vandalized and the main gate was also vandalized by the protesters. The AAP also accused the Delhi Police of supporting the protesters.
