BJP’s Sambit Patra accuses Akhilesh Yadav of giving tickets to ‘goons’ like Nahid Hasan

The BJP has attacked Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav for giving election tickets directly to “goons” instead of releasing the list of candidates ahead of the assembly elections beginning on February 10.

Addressing the media at the BJP office in Lucknow on Monday, Patra said, “When I was going to the party office today, my driver told me here that the Samajwadi Party has not announced the list of candidates. When I asked him why, he replied ‘Because they are all goons’. It seems that Akhilesh has given ticket to people like Nahid Hasan and hence the list of candidates is not being announced by Samajwadi Party.”

“Thankfully Yakub Memon was given life imprisonment, otherwise Akhilesh ji would have fielded him along with Nahid Hasan,” he said. Today I challenge Akhilesh ji to release the list of candidates who is contesting from where. We all know that he will not release the list. Nahid Hasan’s ticket was announced due to which there is anger in the entire country and that is why the list of candidates is not being announced,” Patra said.

Patra has also asked Yadav to apologize for accusing the BJP of bringing Pakistan during the “politics of votes”. He said, ‘Today I read the interview of former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in a newspaper in which he has said that Pakistan is not the real enemy of India but BJP brings Pakistan in the middle for the politics of votes. This statement is very shameful and for this he should apologize to the country.

He also questioned Yadav on the situation in Kashmir, where people “were under shelling by Pakistan… Unarmed and innocent people are killed by terrorists sent by Pakistan. Isn’t their life valuable? You (Akhilesh Yadav) They are saying that the real enemy of India is not Pakistan, all this is being done by the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The BJP leader also said that Akhilesh Yadav is now questioning opinion polls, but he will blame the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for his “loss” on the day of counting of votes on March 10.

Responding to Patra’s allegations, the Samajwadi Party slammed the BJP for criminalizing politics and clarified that the party was announcing the names of candidates on the website and social media platforms, and “nothing was hidden from anyone”.

Samajwadi Party spokesperson Abdul Hafiz Gandhi told News18, “BJP should first introspect their party, they have MLAs like Sangeet Som and Suresh Rana who have tainted background. Even his deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya has cases while Yogi ji withdrew his cases while in power. So, instead of preaching to others, BJP should see who they are fielding… We want a law to be made so that those accused in heinous crimes can be stopped from contesting elections. With the BJP in power at the Centre, it is their responsibility to make a law on it.
