BJP’s Nitesh Rane slams Maharashtra government after case was registered for remarks linking Pawar and Dawood

new Delhi: Union Minister Narayan Rane’s son and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Nitesh Rane, who has been booked along with his brother Nilesh Rane for allegedly linking Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar’s name to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim Gaya, alleged the case on Sunday. Has been filed to expose the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra.

He said Maharashtra government leaders should replace the pictures of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi with Ibrahim’s pictures from his cabin if they have “so much love” for the underworld don.

A case has been registered against me and my brother on the statement given by me,” said the BJP MLA, reported ANI.

“If MVA (government) and Pawar ji have so much love for Dawood Ibrahim, then they should remove Gandhi ji’s photo from their cabin and put Dawood’s photo. Cases are being registered against us because we have exposed the MVA government,” he said.

His anger comes a day after a case was registered at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan police station on a complaint by NCP leader Suraj Chavan.

A case has been registered under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 153 (abetment with intent to cause riot), 499 (defamation) and 500 (punishment for defamation).

Nitesh Rane had earlier alleged in a BJP rally at Azad Maidan that Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik had struck a deal with Dawood Ibrahim.

Demanding Malik’s resignation, he said the former was not a saint and asked why the state government had not sought his resignation.
