PANAJI: In a transparent majority, BJP MLA Joshua D’Souza was elected because the deputy speaker of Goa legislative meeting on Friday.
D’Sousa garnered 24 votes towards Congress MLA Delilah Lobo who obtained 12.
Three MLAs – two AAP and one RGP – abstained from voting.
Joshua, the son of former deputy chief minister Francis was first elected to Goa legislative meeting from Mapusa constituency in Might 2019 bypoll after the seat fell vacant following his father’s loss of life.
Joshua was re-elected in February 2022 meeting elections from the identical constituency.
