BJP will not ally with Congress in institutional elections: Patil

Gujarat BJP Speaker CR Patil on Wednesday said the party will “never come into alliance with the Congress” for elections to institutional posts, which the saffron party has begun to “hold” from the oldest party.

“In Gujarat, now we have captured seats in all sugar cooperatives except one dairy, all district cooperative banks, all APMCs. I use the word capture because we have taken it away from those whose hold (panja) was stopping the growth of these institutions,” he said. Patil noted that since taking over as the BJP’s state working president in July 2020, the party has won 55 out of 96 elections to cooperatives and public institutions.

Patil compared the management of public institutions and cooperatives by BJP leaders with those of other parties, saying, “When Janata Dal And Congress leaders were leading many cooperative societies and institutions in the state, decisions would never come. Therefore, the BJP decided that party leaders would contest on all institutional positions; Well, even if we lose, we will not form an alliance with Congress.

Inaugurating Baroda Dairy’s milk processing plant at Bodeli in Chhota Udepur, Patil also spoke about the public spat between party leaders over payment of dues to milk producers last month. He urged the milk unions and dairy management to work together.

Patil was instrumental in settling a public dispute between four BJP MLAs from Vadodara and Dinesh Patel, a former MLA from Padra, over the issue of payment to milk producers.

Patil also promptly apologized for “slipping his tongue” for referring to Dinesh Patel as “Natu Mama” several times during his speech. “This is the third program regarding milk producers in which I am participating. Earlier, a congratulatory ceremony was organized in Vadodara. There was another incident earlier (taste-settlement meeting). To fight for their rights, four of our elected MLAs, led by Ketan Inamdar (Savli), Akshay Patel (Karjan), Shailesh Mehta (Dabhoi), and Madhu Srivastava (Waghodia), along with Vadodara MP Ranjan Bhatt came to me. Then we said Ek Natu Mama, I mean, Dinu Mama (Dinesh’s nickname)… I have never slipped my tongue like this, but today the crowd is scaring me,” Patil said with his trademark sarcasm.

The BJP leader further said that though Dinesh was the president of Baroda Dairy, the show was run by his deputy GB Solanki. He said that although he had assumed that Dinesh and Solanki would seek time to pay the promised amount, they had already paid Rs 18 crore to milk producers before Dussehra last week, and the remaining amount on March 31, 2022. to be deposited. promised.

Urging milk producers and dairy management to work hand in hand, Patil said, “Milk unions and dairies are like ears next to the forehead, you cannot separate it. (Prime Minister Narendra) Modiji says that if Gujarat does not send milk to Delhi, Delhi will not get milk. Their tea is dependent on your milk. Same is the case with Goa as well.”
