Bangalore: In the wake of the BJP high command’s decision to change the leadership in Karnataka, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and a team identifying MLAs from his camp have launched an all-out campaign in his support. Party sources said, “Events within the party have intensified. RSS leaders and senior leaders in New Delhi have been warned about the consequences of forcing CM Yediyurappa to resign.”
It has also been decided to launch a movement through religious sages from various Veerashaiva-Lingayat monasteries across the state. Even when Yediyurappa declared himself that he would remain the CM for the next two years, none of the top BJP leaders came forward to announce his support.

Yediyurappa’s team is planning to demand the BJP high command to cover up the issue of leadership in the state. Sources say, “It will also be brought to their notice that if they do not work in this direction, the BJP will suffer huge losses in the state.
All India Veerashaiva Mahasabha president and senior Congress leader Shamanur Shivashankarappa had warned that the BJP in Karnataka would perish if CM Yeddyurappa was asked to resign. BJP leaders should go through history and know about the consequences of harassing the Lingayat leadership. “If any action is taken against CM Yediyurappa, the community will give a befitting reply to the BJP,” he said.
In another significant development, another Congress leader MB Patil said that Lingayats will lose their vote bank base if the BJP tries to change the leadership.
