BJP Seeks Jharkhand Minister Banna Gupta’s Resignation Over Purported Viral Video Chat With Woman

Ranchi: The Jharkhand unit of the BJP on Sunday attacked state health minister and Congress leader Banna Gupta after a video of his alleged video chat with a woman went viral on social media. However, the minister quickly issued a clarification on the alleged video chat, terming it “fake and edited”. Hitting out at the state health minister over the alleged video chat, the BJP demanded his resignation and a probe into the matter.

Sharing the viral clip of the minister’s purported video chat with the woman, BJP MP from Jharkhand Nishikant Dubey claimed that the video has exposed the real face of the Congress. Speaking to ANI, Pratul Shahdeo, BJP spokesperson in Jharkhand, said the Congress should clarify its position on the “vulgar and objectionable” video.

“The viral video purportedly showing the health minister is highly objectionable. While the veracity of the clip is yet to be ascertained, we want to know whether it is genuine or fake.”

Since he is a member of the state cabinet headed by the Chief Minister (Hemant Soren), it is the responsibility of the CM to order an inquiry to find out whether the clip is genuine or fake. If the purported video turns out to be genuine, the minister should step down immediately.

Beej. Terming the purported video chat as ‘fake and edited’, the minister issued a statement saying that he has already lodged an FIR in the matter.

“A fake and edited video has been deliberately circulated on social media. It is quite clear that the video is photoshopped or edited through any other editing app. I have already registered an FIR in the matter. I I will take legal action against him.” Who are behind this fake video,” said the Congress leader.
