Elections to the 224-member Karnataka Legislative Assembly will be held on May 10 and the results will be declared on May 13. The electoral battle in the state will mainly be between the Congress, the BJP and the JD(S).

Meanwhile, the first list of BJP candidates for the May 10 assembly elections in Karnataka is expected to be released on Tuesday or Wednesday.

On Monday, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said there was no confusion over the finalization of the list. “It is likely to be released this evening, but since more discussions are to be held, it may be released on Tuesday or Wednesday,” Bommai told reporters in Delhi.

“For some candidates, more ground reports will have to be collected, more information will have to be gathered and new candidates will have to be discussed,” the chief minister said.
