BJP protests against TMC in Tripura over alleged conspiracy to create trouble in the state

The Tripura unit of the ruling BJP held protests across the state on Friday Mamata BanerjeeThe Trinamool Congress (TMC)-led and said that “outsiders” have reduced the people of the state. BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharya said, “People are coming from outside and they are defaming the chief minister and the people of Tripura. That’s why people came out to protest.”

Supporting the protest, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb tweeted, “Today, the way BJP Yuva Morcha and Mahila Morcha workers have participated in the protests across the state is commendable. Seeing this wave of yours, I am sure that no evil force can stop the nationalist judiciary which we are pursuing.”

Minutes after Deb’s tweet, TMC accused the BJP of violating COVID-19 norms. “Tripura CM, @BjpBiplab congratulates @BJP4Tripura party workers for breaking #COVID19 norms & protesting against AITC. Disaster Management Act? If @AmitShah himself has you covered, such acts only apply to those voices who dare to speak up for the people of #Tripura!” TMC tweeted.

Responding to this, Bhattacharya further said, “We were disciplined and were maintaining the COVID-19 protocol. If they (TMC) are not disciplined then we cannot help.”

Earlier, TMC workers were booked under the Disaster Management Act for allegedly violating the state’s COVID-19 protocol.

Meanwhile, a 10-member team of TMC reached Tripura on Friday for the elections. The team included a minister and other important MPs – Bratya Basu (Education Minister), Dola Sen, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Arpita Ghosh, Prasun Banerjee, Abir Biswas, Abu Tahir Khan, Aparupa Poddar, Pratima Mandal and Vasudhara Goswami.

The team has been instructed to instill the confidence of the local leaders on August 16 and also organize ‘Khela Hobe’ with pomp.

After winning the West Bengal Assembly elections with a comfortable majority, the Trinamool Congress is now eyeing Tripura, the state which goes to polls in 2023.
