“If the Speaker’s approval is received, we can build the temple at our own expense,” he said.

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and BJP leader Babulal Marandi also expressed disappointment over the state government’s decision.

“The temple of democracy should remain as the temple of democracy. Allotment of a separate room for Namaz in (Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha) is wrong. We are against this decision,” ANI quoted Marandi as saying.

The Jharkhand Assembly Secretariat has issued an order on September 2 saying that room number TW 348 will be allotted to Muslims for offering prayers in the new assembly building of the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier inaugurated the newly constructed building of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly on 12 September 2019 in Kute village of Ranchi.
