Following Gandhi’s speech in the first part of the budget session, in which he commented on the Hindenburg-Adani issue, Dubey filed a privilege notice against him on 7 February.

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on Friday sought disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from the Lok Sabha while testifying before a parliamentary panel on his privilege notice against the Congress leader.

Following Gandhi’s speech in the first part of the budget session, in which he commented on the Hindenburg-Adani issue, Dubey moved a privilege notice against him on 7 February.

Presenting his case before the Lok Sabha’s Committee of Privileges, headed by BJP MP Sunil Singh, Dubey said that despite Gandhi’s comments being removed by the Lok Sabha Speaker, they are still available on his and the Congress’ official YouTube channels.

“Not just one but three privileges apply to him and he is a habitual offender and hence his membership should be terminated,” said a source quoting Dubey.

Dubey also produced documents and reports to buttress his point that all the allegations made by Gandhi are baseless, adding that various deals of businessman Gautam Adani that he mentioned were done during the Congress-led UPA government. were done.

Gandhi made the allegation against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is not only a member of the Lok Sabha but also the leader of the House, without any prior notice which is a violation of the rules of the Lok Sabha. Sources quoted Dubey as saying that in his speech, he named the heads of governments of many countries, which is also a violation of the rules.

At the meeting, Dubey alleged that Gandhi was challenging the authority of the Lok Sabha Speaker, as he posted his exculpatory remarks on his YouTube account as well as the Congress party’s account. Dubey cited Subramanian Swamy’s expulsion from the Rajya Sabha in 1976 to support his demand for Gandhi’s dismissal.
