Given that the BJP was in the grip of the party and the government for most of the tenure of the government in the state, reaching out to workers is seen as the core and most important element of the exercise.

With elections over in five states, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has begun preparations for the electoral battle in the southern state of Karnataka.

The party has formed three teams to reach out to the ‘karyakartas’ at the mandal level and hold meetings at the district level. Given that there was infighting between the party and the government for most of the tenure of the BJP government in the state, reaching out to workers is seen as the core and most important element of the exercise.

Sources said that keeping in mind the 2023 elections, three teams have been formed. A senior party leader also said that the ‘propaganda’ exercise is likely to begin from April 12.

These teams are being led by Arun Singh, National General Secretary and in-charge of Karnataka; Nalin Kateel, BJP State Chief and Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. “Each team will have six to eight members who will be the top leaders of the party,” the source said.

These leaders include Pralhad Joshi, Sadanand Gowda, BS Yeddiyurappa, R Ashok, CT Ravi, Govind Karjol, Jagadish Shettar, KS Eshwarappa to name a few.

“These teams will go to divisions and spend at least two days in each division. There will be a ‘sabha’ of workers in each division.” Sources also said that assembly-wise analysis will also be done by the core group and central leadership.
