‘BJP Carrying Out Hooliganism In Bengal’: Mamata Banerjee On Kaliaganj Violence

New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday alleged that outsiders were brought into the state to attack Kaliganj police station and private property in Uttar Dinajpur district. Banerjee alleged that the BJP was behind the incidents of vandalism in Kaliganj following the death of a minor girl and directed the state police to find out the attachment of properties of those involved in the arson. Banerjee told reporters at the state secretariat after an administrative meeting, “Outsiders were brought to the Kaliaganj police station to set ablaze property of common people as well. Police will find out to attach property of those involved in the riots.” ” “The BJP is doing hooliganism in Bengal. They are trying to create unrest in Bengal. We will defeat this conspiracy to create anarchy,” he said.
She claimed that the Center was “trying to harass all the states where the opposition was in power”.

Lauding the police for disarming and arresting a man who entered a school in Old Malda brandishing a gun, thereby averting a school hostage crisis, Banerjee alleged that the entire matter could be a conspiracy.
The Chief Minister said, “The case of gun-wielding in Malda school cannot be madness.”

“The man managed to enter the school and entered the class eight students’ room,” the official told PTI. The man, identified as Vallabh, shouted that ‘if someone shoots him, he will shoot’.

A pistol, two bottles filled with some liquid and a knife were recovered from the person who was overpowered and arrested by the people present there and the police personnel, the official said.

The bespectacled man claimed that he acted this way because his son and wife had been missing for a year, and he wanted to pressure the administration to look into it. However, according to his neighbours, the man in his mid-40s lives apart from his wife and their child stays with him.
