BJP-AD combine bags 11 block pramukh seats in Prayagraj, SP 10 | Allahabad News – Times of India

Prayagraj: In the block pramukh elections held in Prayagraj district, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ally Apna Dal got 11 seats, while the Samajwadi Party (SP) won 10 seats. The seats of Bahria and Handia have been won by independents.
In 21 blocks of the district, polling was held on Saturday morning for the Block Head polling and the results were declared by evening. The candidates of two blocks were elected unopposed.
Of the 11 seats won by the BJP, eight candidates won the election against their rivals, mainly belonging to the SP. Shailesh Kumar had won the Pratappur seat unopposed. The seat of Saidabad has gone to the account of Apna Dal, which the party has given to its ally. In Bahadurpur, BJP did not declare a candidate, but the winner here is BJP worker Arunendra Singh.
While for SP, the party has won nine seats. Earlier, the party had already won the post of block chief of Kaundhiyara as Indranath was elected unopposed, giving the party a total of 10 seats.
In two blocks, independent candidate Yogesh Pandey has won from Bahria and Mahendra Singh from Handia. After the election, the returning officer has issued certificates to the winning block heads.
Of the 21 blocks, BJP and its ally have registered victories in Meja (Gayatri Devi), Manda (Pragati Singh), Holagarh (Ram Fakir), Shankargarh (Nirmala Devi), Saidabad (Rajendra Singh of Apna Dal), Phulpur (Vipendra Singh) ), Bahadurpur (Arunendra Yadav-BJP worker), Bhagwatpur (Malti Devi), Soraon (Pradeep Kumar) and Sahson (Geeta Singh).
Similarly, SP won at Uruva (Aarti Gautam), Mauaima (Afsrun Nisha), Kaudihar (Mohamad Muzaffar), Shringverpur (Kalpana Pandey), Jasra (Ajit Singh), Dhanupur (Jyoti Yadav), Karchana (Saroj) and Koraon (Mukesh Kumar) ) and Chaka (Anil Kumar Singh).
SSP Prayagraj Best Tripathi said that there was no incident of violence during the polling. Three-tier security arrangements were made for the polling.
Polling has been held in 11 out of 17 blocks in the block chief election of neighboring Pratapgarh district as the block chiefs of six blocks have already won unopposed. Of the 17 seats, the BJP was successful in winning seven seats, while the Jansatta Dal (Democratic) won five seats. Congress won three seats and two independent candidates.
During the voting in Aspur Devsara block of this district, large-scale violence was reported, in which a huge crowd pelted stones at the police, causing damage to dozens of vehicles. A media person and a dozen policemen also received minor injuries. The situation came under control when the police dispersed the crowd by using force and firing tear gas shells. In view of the tension in Aspur Devsara block, police teams and PACs of six police stations have been deployed.
