The Trinamool Congress on Monday claimed that Biplab Kumar Deb’s resignation as Tripura Chief Minister corroborates its allegation that the BJP-led government in the northeastern state has been a “performed” government.

TMC general secretary Kunal Ghosh said the saffron camp should make a statement as to why its central leadership “asked Deb to resign” as chief minister just months before the next assembly election. If they fail to explain the reason behind the removal of Biplab Kumar Deb, it will be presumed that the BJP-led government has miserably failed to fulfill its promises,” Ghosh said.

He also claimed that it would be the moral duty of the BJP leadership to explain why they changed the chief minister.

The removal of Biplab Kumar Deb confirms the charge of the Trinamool Congress that the BJP government is a non-performing government. Ghosh also said that Deb was neither elderly nor ill. He could have been removed as his party wanted to avoid public fury due to the failure of the BJP government,” the TMC leader said.

“It changed its chief minister just before the elections. In place of Deb, only the face of the government has been changed but the skeleton remains the same.

Manik Saha became the Chief Minister of Tripura after Deb resigned from the post recently. Ghosh also said that the BJP is scared of the rise of Trinamool in the state in the last few months.

“Despite the adversities, TMC managed to garner 20 per cent vote share in the Agartala Municipal Corporation elections. It has increased to 24-25 per cent in areas of some municipalities. The time has come to change the government to serve the people in a better way.

Ghosh was granted bail in three separate cases in three police stations of Gomti district for his remarks of Sitar Patal Prabesh against him, which allegedly hurt the religious sentiments of several people.
