JAIPUR: Rajasthan Police unearthed REET cheating rackets across the state including in Bikaner, where a gang planted calling devices inside slippers to cheat in exams. During the day 40 people were arrested and over two dozen were questioned.
In Bikaner, police arrested five members of a gang, including a woman, who had installed a Bluetooth enabled calling device inside slippers for cheating. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had sold the modified slippers for Rs.6 lakh each.

“A small battery and a SIM card were hidden under the soles of the slippers. A Bluetooth enabled micro-earpiece was implanted deep into the ears of the candidates to help them hear the answer,” said an official.
IG Bikaner Prafulla Kumar said, “One of the accused in the case is a suspended sub-inspector and we are making efforts to arrest him.” He said that slippers were supplied in Ajmer and Sikar districts.
The accused have been identified as Madanlal, Om Prakash, Gopal Krishna, Kiran and Trilok Chand. SIM cards, Bluetooth devices and other devices were recovered from them.
Police have also identified the mastermind as Tulsi Ram Kler, who owns a coaching center in Bikaner. Police said Ram has been arrested in similar fraud cases in the past as well. Bikaner SP Preeti Chandra said, “Kler is absconding and our teams are on the lookout for him.”
On the information of Bikaner police, many accused have been arrested from different parts of the state. Two were arrested from Pratapgarh district and identified as Hanuman Bishnoi and Malram Bishnoi.
Acting on the information of Bikaner police, police arrested one Ganesh Ram Jat from Kishangarh for using slippers with bluetooth. Another arrest in the chappal case was made from Neem Ka police station in Sikar district, where the police arrested one Uda Ram from the examination centre.
Another case of suspected cheating came to light in Ajmer when an inspection team nabbed a couple from Central Girls School in Purani Mandi area. It was found that the couple had filled similar information in their applications including same date of birth, name and same name of parents.
In Sawai Madhopur, two police constables were suspended for helping their wives cheat. Both are being interrogated. “Both constables have been suspended. We have also detained their wives and they are being interrogated. Our operation is underway,” said SP Rajesh Singh. Another constable has been suspended in Sirohi.
Govindgarh police in Jaipur Rural arrested five accused, including two dummy candidates, for trying to appear on behalf of REET candidates. Govindgarh DSP Sandeep Saraswat said that the police have arrested Shyamveer Singh, Mithilesh Chauhan, Karan Kushwaha, Sachdev Singh and Shyam Sundar from Shri Krishna Girls College, Kalu Ka Bans, Govindgarh.
In a similar action, three other accused including two women were arrested from Manoharpura, two in Renwal and one in Jobner area of ​​Jaipur Rural Police. Sources told TOI that around 19 observers at various centers in Renwal were removed from their duties.
In Rajsamand, two government teachers were arrested for appearing on behalf of REET candidates. Till late Sunday night, four people were arrested in Jodhpur and one in Bundi. Inquiries are on in major cities including Hanumangarh, Bhilwara, Bundi and Jodhpur.
