The Bihar government on Friday transferred a deputy SP-rank police officer who was at the center of a dispute between Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha earlier this week.

According to a notification issued by the state home department, Lakhisarai sub-divisional police officer Ranjan Kumar has been transferred to Areraj in East Champaran in the same post.

He is being replaced by Syed Imran Masood, a young IPS officer of 2018 batch, who is currently posted as SDPO of Danapur in Patna district.

Notably, the speaker, who represents the Lakhisarai assembly constituency, was annoyed by the non-cooperation of the police officials, including the deputy SP.

Sinha, who belongs to the BJP, was against police action in a case involving alleged wrongful arrests, and the RJD-led opposition faced his discontent when the budget session began, referring the matter to the Privileges Committee. sent to.

Lakhisarai comes under Munger Lok Sabha constituency which is represented by JD(U) national president Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan of Chief Minister.

According to reports in a section of the media, Sinha was particularly annoyed by the police being tough on his supporters but going easy on those close to the MP.

The chief minister holds the all-important home portfolio and a section of BJP leaders is angry that despite his low political clout, he has managed to maintain “absolute control” over the police.

On Monday, the chief minister blasted the floor of the assembly with anger and told the speaker that it was against the Constitution, making an exception to the Lakhisarai issue being raised “repeatedly” inside the House.
