Over the past fortnight, 12 bridges that have collapsed were located in Bihar’s Siwan, Saran, Madhubani, Araria, East Champaran, and Kishanganj.

Bihar Minister Bihar Minister Dr Prem Kumar blamed the 12 recent cases of bridge collapse incidents in Bihar on the former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) government, saying only the ones built during the RJD tenure were crumbling.

“Bridges built during the RJD tenure are collapsing. They constructed the bridges but made no maintenance policy. We will soon bring a maintenance policy in place. Culprits will not be spared,” Kumar said.

The minister’s remarks came after one more bridge collapsed in Bihar’s Saran district on Thursday, marking the twelfth such incident within 17 days. Over the past fortnight, the bridges that have collapsed were located in the districts of Siwan, Saran, Madhubani, Araria, East Champaran, and Kishanganj.

Meanwhile, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, criticising their silence over the issue.
