Motihari: Sachin Kumar, the main accused in the RTI activist Bipin Agarwal murder case, was arrested on Thursday by a special police team led by Areraj SDPO Abhinav Dhawan from Parashurampur village.
Police also recovered a pistol and six live cartridges from him.
Sachin was evading arrest for the last three months after Agarwal’s murder and had taken refuge in Nepal. On secret information, East Champaran SP Kumar Ashish had constituted a special team to arrest the accused.
Sachin is a sharp shooter and is a resident of Bhatha village of Sugauli police station area. The SP said, “He was wanted in more than six criminal cases registered in different police stations of the district. He is being questioned by the police. We have already arrested seven accused in the Agarwal murder case and the rest will be arrested soon.” ”
In September last year, Bipin (46) was shot dead by four bike-borne criminals near the gate of the Harsiddhi block office. The father of the deceased, Vijay Aggarwal, had registered a case against unknown criminals. Former SP of East Champaran Navin Chandra Jha had said that one of the accused Manish Patel had confessed that Rs 20 lakh was given to four shooters to kill Bipin and this amount was given by some politicians. Bipin had filed at least 900 RTI applications seeking details of encroachment of government land in Harsiddhi Bazar. On his complaint, the administration had sealed a petrol pump located on a government land in Harsiddhi Bazar area. His house was also attacked by criminals in 2020 and the case is pending.
Bipin’s wife Monika Aggarwal said that her husband had sought police protection several times, but was not given.
