Bihar girl lost a leg while going to school, Sonu Sood extended help

Amidst recent reports that about 48 per cent of children in India India Actor Sonu Sood, who goes to school on foot, has extended his support to a girl from Bihar, who walks on a foot for almost a kilometer to reach her school. He shared the girl’s story on social media platform, Twitter and promised to help her so that she can walk on both her feet.

Tweeting the video, Sonu wrote, “Aab yeh ek nahi, dono pairon par kud kar school jayegi. Ticket bhej rha hun, chaliye dono pairon par chalne ka samay aa gya (Now, she will hop on both of her legs. I am sending the ticket, it’s time to walk on both of her legs).”

The girl’s story is going viral on the internet and many publications have covered the girl’s story. The name of the 10 year old girl is Seema. She hails from Jumai district of Bihar. Seema had an accident two years ago when she was hit by a tractor. During treatment, doctors had to amputate a limb. Now she walks to her school on one foot.

However, Seema does not lose hope after the unfortunate incident and aspires to become a teacher. While the story is inspiring, it also takes a look at all of us living in remote areas of our country who have to struggle hard to get an education.

The actor’s humanitarian act touched the hearts of millions. Netizens reacted to Sonu’s post with love and appreciation. One user wrote, ‘You are truly a true hero I have ever seen in my life. Your heartfelt generosity is acknowledged by all the people of our country.” While another commented, ‘Angels feel jealous of you. Thank you for everything your foundation is doing for those in need.”

During this, As per the National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2021 report Organized by School Department education And literacy, the Ministry of Education, says only 9 percent of students in classes 3, 5, 8, and 10 are provided transportation by school. A similar number of students go to school via public transport. Only 8 per cent use a family-owned two wheeler and 3 per cent have their own four wheeler for commuting to and from school. About 48 per cent of the students go to school every day and 18 per cent travel by bicycle.
