Though the order was passed on October 4, the order sheet related to the matter was made available on November 26.
The girl was raped on July 22 this year and an FIR was lodged the next day. The case was supervised by Araria Mahila Police Station in-charge Rita kumari,
Talking to reporters, POSCO Public accuser Shyamlal Yadav Said, “The case in Araria was the fastest trial of rape case in the country. It broke the record of a Madhya Pradesh court. Datia The district completed the rape trial in three days in August 2018.
The court fast-tracked the proceedings by recording witnesses, arguments and counterarguments; Convict the accused and deliver the verdict in just one day.
Reacting to the verdict, the Directorate of Prosecution, Home Department, Government of Bihar, issued a statement saying, “This is probably the first case in which sentence has been awarded during a day’s trial in the country.”
“Earlier, a court in Datia (MP) district had delivered the judgment on 8 August 2018 after three days of hearing. Bihar has now set a national record by serving life imprisonment to the convict in a single day trial. Till his last breath. ,” it added.
