Screening test for COVID-19 was conducted for all those who had either arrived to attend ‘Janata ke Darbar Mein’ Mukhymantri‘ To provide catering or other associated facilities during the event or interactive event.
A state government official said that the five others, who tested positive, were employees of a local reputed hotel, who had reached the CM Secretariat to provide catering facilities to the visitors of the event.
The CM himself confirmed that 7 persons – six visitors and one person engaged in the catering facility – were tested positive during the screening test for COVID-19 at the CM Secretariat.
“People are allowed to participate in the CM’s interactive program only after they are found negative for COVID-19 during RT-PCR test in their respective district. In fact, these people are brought to the state capital by the respective district administrations following the COVID-19 related standard operating procedures,” said a government official.
Talking to media persons after his weekly dialogue programme, Nitish said, “It is very sad. ….. six out of total 186 visitors tested positive for COVID-19 today. As per the provisions, these people underwent thorough COVID-19 test before reaching here (in their district) to participate in the programme. A person engaged in the catering facility has also been tested positive. ,
The CM also said, “The cases of Kovid-19 are suddenly increasing at a fast pace. Now we have to be alert. Now, we have to take preventive measures. We will collect information from all places today and take a decision by tomorrow.”
He said that the state government is fully alert in view of the increasing cases of Kovid-19.
Meanwhile, the former CM and we(S) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi The Chief Minister on Monday urged the CM to postpone his “Janata Darbar” event in view of the fresh rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in Bihar, especially in the state capital.
“Keeping in view the recent rise in the cases of COVID-19, I request CM Nitish Kumar to postpone his ‘Janata Darbar’ programme. This will be an effective decision in the interest of the state,” Manjhi tweeted in Hindi.
