Bihar ₹7 Crore Project Collapses Before Inauguration :WATCH

A recently built bridge over the Bakra river in the Sikti area of Araria district, Bihar, collapsed on June 18. The bridge was constructed near Padadiya Ghat.

The report stated that the bridge, which had been constructed at a cost exceeding ₹7 crore, had not yet been inaugurated.

On Tuesday, three pillars of the newly constructed bridge collapsed into the Bakra River.

Residents claim that the bridge was built using low-cost materials.

Following the bridge collapse, the construction team and the administration arrived at the site.

The bridge was built by the district’s rural works department. Sikti MLA Vijay Mandal alleged that the approach road for the bridge was incomplete and the pillars were not constructed with quality materials.

Youth Congress National President Srinivas BV criticized the JD(U) and BJP coalition government in Bihar, stating, “The bridge of the double engine government collapsed into the water even before its inauguration.”

This isn’t the first bridge collapse in Bihar. In 2023, a bridge over the Ganga River in Sultangunj collapsed, and another over the Kosi River in Supaul town collapsed in March 2024, resulting in the death of a worker.
