Bigbang to return after a gap of four years; TOP leaves YG Ent after 16 years

Bigbang fans, known as VIPs, were given an update on Monday about the group’s return and its members. YG Entertainment confirmed that the now four-member group is returning after four years. BIGBANG currently consists of TOP, Taeyang, G.Dragon, and Daesung will release their new song this spring. While fans of the legendary group are excited about his return, YG Entertainment also revealed that TOP is leaving the agency. He has been a part of the brand for 16 years.

“TOP’s exclusive contract with YG has ended, and he will face a variety of new challenges as both an artist and an entrepreneur,” YG Entertainment said in a statement. “We respected TOP’s desire to broaden the scope of their personal activities in addition to their promotion with BigBang, and they successfully entered into an agreement with other members about this. As long as things are fine, [T.O.P] Will always participate in Bigbang activities whenever he is able.”

The agency also confirmed that Bigbang has already recorded the untitled song and is currently in the process of filming the music video. “BIGBANG will release a new song this spring. [BIGBANG] The agency has already completed the recording of their new song, and they are currently preparing to shoot the music video.”

Bigbang last released a song titled Flower Road in March 2018. The group went on an indefinite hiatus after the song was released. Although there was uncertainty about their return, Top and G.Dragon continued to tease the group’s return throughout these four years. Known as one of the most popular boy bands of the 2000s, BigBang made its debut in 2006.

Seungri was also the first in the group. However, last August, it was reported that Seungri had been sentenced to three years in prison on multiple charges. These included his alleged involvement in the Burning Sun scandal in 2019. He retired from the entertainment industry.
