Big rule change, the ball will be changed every time it goes into the stands

control board for Cricket In India (BCCI) has announced some new rules for the second leg of the Indian Premier League to be held in the UAE from 19 September. According to one of the rules, the ball that went into the stands will no longer be used, and then a new ball will be used.

During the match, the ball going to the spectator gallery will be sanitized according to the new rule and kept in the ball library.

This rule change comes into force in accordance with the 46-page health advisory issued by the BCCI. The cricket body is treading very carefully as it does not want to take any risk by following the old procedures. India’s top cricket body has announced this change keeping in mind the safety of players and umpires.

As has been the norm during this COVID-19 pandemic, a ball that is stuck in the stands is cleaned and then used. However, BCCI has made this change and now; We will see that every time the ball hits the stand new balls come in.

The BCCI has also announced that fans will return to the stadium during the second phase of the IPL and hence, do not want to leave any chance when the ball hits the stands as any spectator can get infected – even if asymptomatic.

The Emirates Board has already conveyed to the BCCI that they are ready to bring fans to the stadium for the IPL and the upcoming T20 World Cup.

The remaining 31 matches of the second phase of the IPL will be played from September 19 to October 15. Of these, 13 matches will be played in Dubai, 10 in Sharjah and 8 in Abu Dhabi.

The afternoon matches will start at 3.30 pm IST, while the evening matches will start at 7.30 pm.
